Server Rooms & Data Centres.

The cabling in a server room is the part everybody works around for the next decade. Get it wrong once and every change after it costs more than it should.

Who this is for

Companies outgrowing a converted closet, consolidating rooms after a move or a merger, or living with a cabinet that five different people have patched over a decade.

Most server rooms are not designed. They accumulate. A cupboard gets a rack, then a second rack, then a patch lead run across the floor because it was quicker that afternoon, then forty more exactly like it. It works right up until somebody has to trace one, and by then the room is carrying systems the business genuinely cannot run without.

We build the part of the room your team actually puts its hands on. Cabinets sized and positioned so a person can still work behind them. Structured cabling to Panduit standard, on the accreditation that makes the system warranty available rather than merely looking tidy. Containment hardware that keeps hot air away from intakes instead of letting it mix straight back in. Cross-connects and patching laid out so the next change is a five minute job.

Then the part most contractors skip, and the part your team lives with: labelled at both ends, as-built drawings that match what is genuinely in the cabinet, and environmental monitoring so you hear the room is in trouble from a sensor rather than from a user. Rooms fail slowly and quietly. Instrumentation is what makes that visible while it is still cheap.

How we run it

  1. We survey the room and the cabinets you already have. Rooms are never quite what the drawing says.
  2. Cabinet layout and pathway planned around the work your team will do in there, not just around day one.
  3. Racks, containment and cabling installed to Panduit standard, tested and documented.
  4. Monitoring commissioned and tested, so you hear about a problem from the system, not from staff.

Questions

Server Rooms & Data Centres, answered honestly.

Do you handle the power and cooling as well?

No, and be careful of anyone who says they do without holding the licence for it. Power is electrical contracting and cooling is its own regulated trade, both with their own licensing. We build the racks, cabling, containment and cross-connects, and we work alongside the licensed contractors who do the rest. Where we are coordinating the project, that means one schedule instead of two arguments.

Can you work on a live room without taking us down?

Usually yes, and it is most of what we do. Rooms are rarely rebuilt empty. It takes careful sequencing, dual paths where they exist, and an honest conversation about which steps genuinely need a window. Where we need one, you will hear it from us early rather than on the night.

Our cabinets are a mess. Can that be fixed without starting over?

Usually. Re-dressing a live cabinet is careful work, and it costs a fraction of a rebuild. Most of the benefit comes from labelling, patching discipline and cable management rather than from new hardware. We will tell you honestly when a cabinet is genuinely past saving, which is normally about depth or the age of the frame rather than the state of the cabling in it.
